Galant on Air

Updated: Jun 18, 2022

The 9th car I owned was a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant.

I purchased this car new when I traded in my 1995 Mustang GT. This was the first 4-door car I had ever owned as a daily driver. After purchasing it, I immediately went to work customizing it by adding a set of 18” Tenzo wheels and lowering it.

At the same time, my good friend, Jay Friedman, was working in the import car magazine industry. After some discussion with the right people he was able to hook up a deal where I would get Air Lift suspension installed on the car so they could detail the install for a magazine article in Euro Lowrider. I drove down to Los Angeles to the shop they chose for the install. At the same time we upgraded my wheels to chrome 19” ADR Design. The car came back from Los Angeles way cooler than it went down. It made for a long weekend driving from Reno to Los Angeles and back again in just a few days. The article was featured in the Sept, 2003 issue which can be seen here: https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/air-spring-suspensions/

I owned the Galant for about another year and absolutely loved driving this car as few cars were running air suspension back in 2002. We ended up selling the car to get rid of the car payment and I bought my wife’s grandpa’s old Dodge Dakota as my new daily driver.
